Ambassador Hotel Unveils New-Look Guestrooms

South Africa, Cape Town, March 2009

Elegant, streamlined, and boasting an understated contemporary edge, the refurbishment of all rooms is expected to be complete by mid-October 2008 and forms part of the hotel’s commitment to offer guests only the finest in luxury living: a commitment which has recently seen the hotel’s highly popular introduction of Salt Restaurant & Bar as well as the designer upgrade of her pool deck.

Says Francois du Plessis, interior designer responsible for the in-room transformations: ‘The idea was to create interiors that took their queue from the surrounding dramatic marine environment rather than to create spaces that competed with the sea views.’

So there’s no frivolous ornateness or excessive layering here.

Ensuring a seamless flow between interior and exterior, each room will be complete in a muted palette that mimics Bantry Bay’s natural hues in shades of blue-grey, white, light beige, deep chocolate brown, and delicate touches of silver.

Expect furnishings that are stylish yet simple…the only hint of theatricality is in the faux snake-skin leather adorning some draws and the dressing table ottomans.

Beds are boxy and dressed in crisp white linen. Cabinetry is sleek and custom-designed, finished in rich mahogany. Drapery is elegant – with their double-layered sheer fabric forming a delicate watermark in soft blue-grey, curtains play on the sea theme. Lighting solutions are edgy yet calming and are responsible for adding a dose of the unexpected with avant-garde bedside lamps sporting rectangular shades covered in silver mirror parchment. And en-suites are state-of-the-art and stylishly-appointed in a calming neutral palette.

With virtually every guestroom offering world-class ocean views as well as the latest in modern-day conveniences - including air-conditioning, complimentary wireless Internet access, satellite television, and discreet yet efficient service - the refurbishment of the Ambassador Hotel’s guestrooms goes a long way in raising her standards in luxury living and making this superlative Cape Town destination ideal for the discerning corporate and leisure guest.
