Salt Deli & Vodka Bar
Salt Deli and Salt Vodka Bar are both enticing additions to the Ambassador Hotel portfolio. General Manager of the Salt brand, Ruan Olivier, says: “There is nothing quite like Salt Deli in the Bantry Bay area. Guests can pop in any time from early morning until 9pm – for a great cup of coffee or something delicious to eat.” To keep cuisine interesting and ever changing, Salt Restaurant’s award winning chef Jacques de Jager has introduced daily specials for deli diners.
Olivier adds that the idea behind Salt Deli is to serve classic deli fare and great breakfasts – like eggs Benedict and cream cheese and salmon bagels – in a relaxed atmosphere. “However,” he says, “there is a very strong focus on quality. We source the best quality food and ingredients available, and prefer to use South African suppliers.”
Salt Deli’s retail section is a favourite shopping place for hotel guests and locals alike, with 80% of the products sold being South African and completely unique. Shoppers enjoy a wide selection of olive oils and grape vinegars, salad dressings and preserves. There are also flavoured salts and many other well known deli ranges. Olivier says his aim is to showcase South African niche producers that produce international standard products.
Cutting edge Salt Vodka Bar is located above Salt Deli. There isn’t a vodka bar in Cape Town and we felt the concept would perfectly complement the branding of Salt – both are elemental, clean products. Here guests can relax in the sophisticated lounge and enjoy a choice of 30 premium brand vodkas, served neat or as a colourful cocktail, and accompanied by delectable tapas from Salt Deli. The walk-in champagne fridge also has a choice of 30 bubblies – half local, half French – all available by the glass. To complete the hedonistic experience are panoramic views of the moody Atlantic – perfectly reflecting the uncluttered, free flowing essence of the Ambassador Hotel, Salt Restaurant, Deli and Vodka Bar. It just doesn’t get much better.
