TRIP ADVISOR GUEST COMMENT – AUGUST 2009
Ambassador Hotel, Cape Town
“Awesome views from this delightful jewel”
We spent 6 nights at this wonderful hotel and booked my mom in for 3 nights. (This was hubby’s third stay, my first). Hubby and I stayed in a suite across the road from the main hotel, the suite comprised bedroom, lounge, kitchen and bathroom with a long bath and shower heads. Our suite was on the top h floor and was very spacious, light and homely. The lounge and bedroom shared a long narrow balcony. The views from the lounge and bedroom were stunning. My mom’s room was in the main hotel and had been recently refurbished, trendy bathroom and modern decor. The views from her bedroom were unsurpassed and the sounds of the waves awesome, the sunsets were incredibly spectacular.
Views from the restaurant Salt are breath taking and we also enjoyed watching a whale one morning whilst having breakfast. Thulani was exceptionally caring, attentive and welcoming, he ensured we ate hearty breakfasts! The breakfast menu was extensive and very satisfying. We had pre-booked dinner the night we arrived and loved the ambience of Salt restaurant and the food was delicious.
All the staff at the Ambassador were very welcoming, kind, polite and helpful. Any problem was soon rectified and it appeared no problem was too big. One morning our door would not respond to our swipe cards, the master key was tried but to no avail. We went for a walk during which an employee was called from home (it was Sunday) and he managed to gain entry by removing the security screens from a window. All this was done in a very short period of time, and every member of staff was profusely apologetic even though it was a technological malfunction.
We enjoyed lovely, lengthy strolls from the hotel along the Sea Point esplanade and going in the opposite direction above the Clifton beaches. We had hired a car so did not use the hotel to book sight seeing tours, the Waterfront, Camps Bay and Cable way were all a short drive away. The hotel staff contacted the cableway when we mentioned going up Table mountain and we were surprised to learn it was it was too windy for operation at that time, even though there was not the slightest breeze at the hotel. We were taken aback by the staff volunteering to do this without any prompting from us. The staff were all very dedicated and caring and ensured we all had a fantastic stay.

“Unbeatable views, excellent service “
I stayed here for only one night, and as I was on my own, went for a single room, which lacks the great views that the front rooms have—but still, you can hear and smell the sea right below. The hotel restaurant (Salt) is excellent, with spectacular views—but book in advance, because a room doesn’t guarantee you a table. The breakfast is huge and sumptuous, the service attentive and friendly. And the rates are very reasonable for what you get.

“perfect location,and excellent service!!”
We recently stayed at the Ambassador during the British Lions Rugby tour.
What we found was a Hotel with superb staff who couldn’t do enough for us.Amanda on the travel desk is welcoming, kind and only too willing to help with anything and everything.
The only drawback during our stay was the storms battering Cape Town.I’m sure though,if Amanda and her staff could’ve done something about this, they certainly would have!!!
If ever I visit Cape Town again,I would not hesitate to stay at the Ambassador!
