After the civil war ended in 1992, Mozambique has enjoyed a stable political climate and a growing economy. Tourism is fast becoming one of the country's key resources, but the area around Coral Lodge 15.41 is still largely untouched. The sometimes rugged but unspoiled terrain and friendliness of the local people are a testament to this.
Visiting Coral Lodge 15.41 is visiting a 5 star beach resort at the place where Mozambique is founded. This makes up for the right combination of learning about the culture and history of Mozambique and relaxing in it’s beautiful nature.
Cabaceira Pequena
Coral Lodge 15.41 is situated near Cabaceira Grande and Cabaceira Pequena. Because of their remote location the inhabitants of the village lived in isolation for many centuries. This isolation has sheltered the Macua people from civil war and HIV/Aids on the one hand, but it deprived them of development, schooling and medical services on the other hand. Included in the rates is a $2.00 per person per night contribution to the community fund. These contributions have already been used to build a primary school in the community and we are currently also furnishing the school based on contributions received.
Apart from the $2.00 per person per night contribution, many guests also make separate donations to the community fund and especially after visiting the community. The execution of the projects are monitored by the lodge management and reported to the donators through a blog:
http://cabaceirapequena.blogspot.com. During your stay it will be possible to visit these communities and learn more about the Macua people and their traditions.
